Stay Connected, Keep Growing.
Attending the HOBY DC seminar is just the beginning of your leadership journey. From alumni events to volunteering opportunities, HOBY continues to inspire and empower so many long after their seminar. Whether you're giving back to your community, pursuing your passions, or preparing for your future, the opportunities to grow and lead are endless.
HOBY DC offers alumni exciting opportunities to stay engaged through community volunteering and alumni events. From local service projects to social gatherings, there are plenty of ways to connect with fellow alumni, give back, and continue making a difference. These experiences not only strengthen the HOBY spirit but also help build lasting friendships and networks within the HOBY DC community.
Academic and Graduate All-Stars is a recognition program that celebrates HOBY alumni who excel both academically and in their leadership endeavors. Open to graduating high school and college students, this program highlights alumni who embody the HOBY values of leadership, service, and academic achievement. By applying, alumni have the opportunity to receive recognition for their hard work at graduation, and stand out for scholarships or college applications. It's a way for HOBY to celebrate the exceptional talents and dedication of its alumni!
Leadership for Service (L4S) is HOBY's commitment to cultivating a lifelong passion for community service and leadership among alumni. Through the L4S program, HOBY challenges alumni to complete at least 100 hours of volunteer service within a year of their seminar, reinforcing the values of giving back and creating positive change. Participants log their service hours, which not only strengthens their leadership journey but also makes them eligible for recognitions like The President’s Volunteer Service Award (PVSA). It's a way to stay connected, make an impact, and continue living the HOBY spirit!
Hear from our Alumni!
"I have met my closest and most inspiring friends through this organization, and they have become more than friends, but they are my family. I can’t give enough thanks to HOBY for how powerfully and positively it impacted my life. I cannot wait to inspire more ambassadors to dream big!"
— Miss District of Columbia Teen USA, HOBY DC ‘14
"Participating in HOBY DC opened my eyes to who I am and who I can become as a leader in many different settings in my life. I learned about what being a leader truly means: not telling people what to do and barking orders, but knowing when to organize, knowing when to support others, and knowing when to step back and let other people be in control."
— Student from Woodrow Wilson High School ‘20, HOBY DC ‘18
"HOBY DC was an outstanding experience for me. In many ways HOBY opened my eyes to different perspectives from day one. I have personally grown with the HOBY program by exploring ways I can give back to my community and also understand what it means to be a leader."
— Student from Sligo Creek Cooperative ‘19, HOBY DC & WLC ‘17
