Welcome to HOBY Washington, D.C.!
HOBY, or Hugh O’Brian Youth Leadership, is a non-profit organization dedicated to inspiring and developing our world’s future leaders. Founded in 1958 by actor Hugh O’Brian, HOBY empowers rising high school juniors to become change-makers in their communities through summer seminars and programming all across the world.
At HOBY DC, we empower ambassadors to understand their potential and leverage their unique strengths. Through workshops and interactive discussions, they build confidence and explore how to make meaningful contributions to their communities. In a supportive environment, our program helps ambassadors recognize their ability to create a positive impact—both individually and collectively.
Leadership at HOBY DC is a verb, not a noun. Our seminars give ambassadors hands-on leadership experience through group activities, service projects, and guided reflections. From collaborating on challenges to initiating community projects, HOBY DC ambassadors develop the confidence to lead with empathy and purpose.
We foster excellence by encouraging ambassadors to keep pushing their boundaries and embracing lifelong growth long after their HOBY DC experience is over. Through connections with local leaders and peers, they gain inspiration and build valuable networks. Our program equips ambassadors to excel as resilient, service-minded leaders dedicated to making a difference in our community and beyond.
