The HOBY DC seminar is designed to create a supportive environment where ambassadors can explore their unique strengths, connect with local leaders, and make lifelong friendships in our local community. Through engaging activities, thought-provoking discussions, and hands-on service projects, we help our ambassadors grow as confident, compassionate leaders ready to shape the future.
Our annual seminars consist of three days and two nights of leadership activities, games, and speakers. We invite world-class teachers, professionals, artists, and entrepreneurs to speak on topics such as civic engagement, community leadership, and personal growth.
Although only a weekend long, the connections made at HOBY DC last a lifetime. These three days are filled with growth, experienced alongside students who share the same passion for change as you!
High school sophomores in the D.C., Maryland, and Virginia (DMV) area who have been nominated by their schools or community are eligible to attend the HOBY DC Seminar.
We encourage nominators to select students who demonstrate an interest in leadership and a commitment to personal growth—whether they already have leadership experience or are just beginning to explore their potential.
The HOBY DC seminar takes place annually, typically the weekend after Memorial Day. The next seminar will be at The Catholic University of America from May 30th to June 1st, 2025. To fully benefit from the experience, it's best to attend the entire seminar—so be sure to save the date now and register early!
